From this Dharma axis, every work in the Indian land is done in a cultured time, that is, a time which is suitable for the completion of that work. In this way, the auspicious time for each work has been determined.

During Holashtak, all the planets remain in a fierce nature, due to which good results of auspicious works are not achieved. As soon as Holashtak started, in ancient times the place where Holika was burnt was smeared with cow dung, Ganga water etc. Also, Holika sticks were placed there, one of which is considered to be Holika and the other is considered to be Prahlad.

planets remain furious
During Holashtak, Moon remains on Ashtami, Sun on Navami, Saturn on Dashami, Venus on Ekadashi, Jupiter on Dwadashi, Mercury on Trayodashi, Mars on Chaturdashi and Rahu on Purnima. What to do in Holashtak?
Preparations for Holi start from Magh Purnima. As soon as Holashtak begins, two poles are installed, one of which symbolizes Holika and the other is related to Prahlad. It is believed that preparations for cremation are done 8 days before Holika. When all the measures to turn Prahlad away from Narayan devotion started becoming ineffective, Hiranyakashyap captured Prahlad on this very date Phalgun Shukla Paksha Ashtami and started torturing him in various ways to cause his death, but Prahlad was not deterred. From this day onwards, many measures were taken every day to kill Prahlad, but due to his devotion to God, Prahlad always remained alive.

Similarly, seven days passed and on the eighth day, seeing the trouble of her brother Hiranyakashyap, his sister Holika (who was blessed by Brahma to not get burnt by fire) proposed to take Prahlad in her lap and incinerate him in the fire, which Hiranyakashyap accepted. took. As a result, as soon as Holika sat in the burning fire with her nephew Prahlad in her lap, she herself started burning and Prahlad was saved alive again because the fire god had cooled down for him. Since then, these eight days of devotion are celebrated as Holashtak.

Whenever the devotee was attacked on any date, the lords of that day and dates also got angry with Hiranyakashyap and became furious. Since then, the place for Holika Dahan is selected from the day of Phalgun Shukla Ashtami, from this day till the day of Holika Dahan, some wood is put in it every day, till the full moon, it becomes a big pile of wood. Holika Dahan is done on the auspicious evening in the evening of the full moon day by worshiping the Agni Dev for his coolness and for his own protection. When Prahlad is saved, he celebrates the festival of Holi with great joy.

It is mentioned in the scriptures that Kamadeva was burnt to ashes by Lord Shiva on the Ashtami of Phalgun for the crime of breaking the penance of Lord Shiva. Kamadeva’s wife Rati apologized at that time and Lord Shiva assured to revive Kamadeva. People play with colors in this happiness.
