Attempted knife attack on husband of winning sarpanch

Asifabad: The winning and losing sarpanches in the Panchayat elections are brandishing knives at each other. In Yellareddy mandal of Kamareddy district, a winning sarpanch attacked the losing sarpanch’s family with a tractor, while in Asifabad district, a losing candidate tried to attack the winning candidate with a knife.

BJP supporter Vadayi Tanubai won the second phase of sarpanch elections held yesterday in Itukala Pahad village of Sirpur (T) mandal. Narabai’s husband Bheem Rao, who contested as an independent and lost, tried to attack the winning sarpanch’s husband Poshetty with a long knife on Monday.

The family members confronted him and caught Bheem Rao and tied him up with a rope in front of the house. They then filed a complaint with the police. The police took him into custody.
