Attack with a tangi over the issue of grazing goats, accused arrested

Raigarh. A dispute over a minor issue of grazing goats in village Kandraja Gehun Bari Vijaynagar of Thana Kapu area took a violent turn when a person from the village attacked a 55-year-old man with a tangi. The police showed promptness in the matter and arrested the accused and sent him to jail on judicial remand.

The victim’s daughter Yashoda Das Mahant (age 22 years) lodged a report of the case in Thana Kapu. According to the report, on the night of June 16, at around 8.30 pm, Yashoda’s father Dayalu Das Mahant was standing near the house of Peer Das of the village, when Puran Sai Rathia (age 55 years) of the same village reached there and started accusing that Yashoda was grazing his goat in the field. There was an argument between the two, in which Dayalu Das explained that all the people of the village graze goats, this is nothing new. As the dispute escalated, Puran Sai Rathia abused Dayalu Das and threatened to kill him. Frightened, Dayalu Das started returning home, when Puran Say brought a tangi from his house and ran from behind and attacked Dayalu Das. Seriously injured Dayalu Das was immediately taken to Kapu Hospital by the villagers, where his treatment is going on. On receiving information about the incident, Kapu Police Station took immediate action and arrested the accused Puran Say Rathia and sent him on remand in the case registered against him under Crime No. 93/2025 Sections 109, 296, 351(3) Indian Justice Code (BNS). The Kapu Police is conducting a detailed investigation of the case.
