Atgaon-Panshet railway station: Attempt of sabotage by placing iron rods on the track
Maharashtra: On Monday midnight, an unknown person tried to commit a terrorist act by placing a one-foot long iron rod on the railway track between Atgaon and Tanshet railway stations of Central Railway. When the overhead wire engine was passing through this railway track, the iron rod hit the front part of the engine. Considering the possibility of danger to the lives of others due to the act done by the unknown person, a case has been registered in this regard at Kalyan Iron Road Police Station on Monday morning.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Constable Nilesh More of Iron Road Police Station, Kasara. Iron rods were placed on the railway track at kilometer number 95-38 between Atgaon and Tanshet railway stations. Constable Nilesh More of Iron Road Police Station said in his complaint given to the police station that at around 3.30 am on Monday morning, the loco pilot of the overhead wire engine, Ajay Kumar, was going to Kasara with the overhead wire engine in his possession. When their engine was running between Atgaon and Tanshet railway stations, some unknown person placed a one foot long iron rod on the railway track at kilometer number 95-38. This iron rod hit the front portion of the engine which was running at high speed. As soon as he saw that there was some load under the track and wheels, the loco pilot moved forward and stopped the engine as the engine was stuck.
He got down from the engine and inspected the portion of the track where the engine was stuck. He saw that an iron rod was placed on the track at that place. He immediately informed Kalyan Lohmarg Police, Kasara Railway Station Master. Police reached the spot. Police have registered a case under Railway Act against the unknown person for committing an act endangering human life. Police have started investigation to find out who did this act. Fortunately this incident was witnessed as an engine was passing through this railway line. If the express or mail train had been running at a high speed on this line, a major accident could have occurred, said a railway source.
