Assistant Engineer Nibedita Mohanty Jatni arrested by Odisha Vigilance
Jatni: On Tuesday late night, Nibedita Mohanty Asst. Engineer (AE) Jatni Block, Dist-Khordha, was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on bribery charges. The AE has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court today.
According to reports, she was nabbed yesterday late night while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from a Contractor (complainant) for clearing his pending bill towards Govt. constructions under Jatni Block by complainant.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 30.07.2024, wherein the accused Nibedita Mohanty, AE was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in her residential house at Khandagiri for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand) from the Contractor.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mohanty and seized in presence of witnesses. Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched on the residential house of Smt. Mohanty, AE at Rudra Vihar, Khandagiri Bari, Bhubaneswar, house of her in-laws at Digambarpur, Nihal Prasad, Dhenkanal, her paternal house at Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar and her office room. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.16 dated 30.07.2024 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
