Assam Rifles seizes Yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore in Cachar, arrests two
Assam: In a major operation, the Assam Rifles (AR) has busted a drug smuggling racket in Cachar district of Assam. Security forces seized Yaba tablets worth approximately ₹1 crore (approximately ₹1 crore) and arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
The operation was carried out based on intelligence information indicating a large consignment of narcotics being smuggled into the area. Following this, the Assam Rifles team increased surveillance and monitored suspicious activities.
During the investigation, the team apprehended two individuals in suspicious circumstances. Upon searching them, a large quantity of Yaba tablets was recovered. Preliminary estimates indicate the value of the seized drugs in the international market is estimated to be approximately ₹1 crore (approximately ₹1 crore).
The Assam Rifles immediately detained both accused and safely confiscated the seized drugs. The two accused and the seized drugs were subsequently handed over to the local police for further legal action.
According to officials, this operation is part of an ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. Security agencies are on constant alert due to the potential for a drug network in Cachar and surrounding areas.
Yaba tablets, considered a dangerous narcotic, are rapidly spreading among youth. Security agencies are particularly vigilant regarding this. Patrols and investigations have been intensified in border areas to curb such smuggling.
