Assam: Congress strengthens its grassroots presence in Digboi ahead of the elections

Digboi: As the Assam Assembly elections draw closer, the Indian National Congress is emerging as a formidable force in Digboi, demonstrating strong organizational discipline, grassroots outreach, and growing public support. The party’s efforts to reconnect with voters and strengthen its booth-level machinery were on full display at a massive training camp held on Wednesday at the Luit Shilpi Samaj Auditorium, which is widely seen as a sign of the Congress’s growing electoral momentum.
Organized by the Digboi Block Congress Committee under the directives of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi, the event was attended by approximately 400 key functionaries, including mandal presidents, booth committee heads, and booth-level agents. This large-scale and disciplined participation underscored the party’s preparedness to translate its grassroots organizational strength into electoral success.
Addressing the gathering, Digboi Block Congress President Vishnu Jaiswal stated that the party has consolidated its base across the constituency and is entering the electoral phase with confidence. He outlined a structured electoral roadmap and emphasized that continuous training, coordination, and direct voter engagement have positioned the Congress strongly ahead of the elections.
The session was led by AICC representative Ayush Pandey, whose address set a resolute political tone. Urging party workers to take the campaign decisively to the streets, Pandey called for an expansion of the Congress’s door-to-door contact program. He stated that public sentiment in Digboi is rapidly shifting in favor of the Congress amidst growing discontent with the BJP.
“To secure a decisive mandate, we must deepen our engagement with the people and speak honestly about their realities,” Pandey said. He criticized the BJP for failing voters on promises of wage increases for Scheduled Tribes and tea garden workers, and highlighted governance shortcomings, including deficiencies in the Jal Jeevan Mission, which he cited as evidence of the ruling party’s lack of grassroots connection.
APCC Secretary Pali Hazarika reiterated the message of unity and discipline, emphasizing that the collective strength and organizational cohesion of the Congress would be crucial in the upcoming elections. He urged the workers to remain committed to the party’s people-centric agenda.
The presence of all Congress ticket aspirants from the Digboi constituency was seen as a strong indicator of internal unity and electoral seriousness, dispelling any speculation of factionalism and showcasing a united front for the party.
Political observers suggest that the groundswell of support is rapidly shifting in favor of the Congress. Any move by the BJP to replace the incumbent Digboi MLA could further weaken its position, while the Congress is strategically positioned to capitalize on voter sentiment and secure the seat with a strong mandate.
The Digboi training camp is part of the Congress’s statewide strategy aimed at energizing its cadres, strengthening the booth-level structure, and rebuilding public trust through consistent outreach programs.
With organizational momentum and shifting public sentiment, the Congress appears poised for a strong electoral comeback in Digboi, which could play a decisive role in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
