Assam CM met Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and JP Nadda

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held fruitful meetings with two Union ministers, Nitin Gadkari and JP Nadda, in New Delhi on Tuesday, focusing on the progress of the state’s infrastructure and healthcare.

In his meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Sarma discussed various ongoing national highway projects in Assam, including the crucial Guwahati Ring Road. The session was attended by senior officials from both MoRTH and Assam government, wherein detailed discussions were held on speeding up these infrastructure projects. “Discussed ongoing national highway projects, including Guwahati Ring Road, with Assam CM Shri @himantabiswa ji and senior officials in Delhi today,” Gadkari wrote on X to share the outcome.

Sarma also acknowledged Gadkari’s unwavering support in pushing forward the state’s infrastructure, especially the high priority areas. Expressing his gratitude on X, the Chief Minister posted, “Glad to share! Had a wonderful meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari Ji. I am truly impressed by the unwavering support of @MORTHIndia in expediting priority infrastructure projects in Assam and ensuring their timely completion.”

The discussions resulted in important decisions aimed at expediting key infrastructure projects in Assam. Sarma highlighted these in his post, “Timely commencement of construction of three major infrastructure projects of Assam – Guwahati Ring Road, Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, Underwater Tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh; accelerated progress on Jorhat-Dibrugarh section of National Highway after our previous feedback; review of double laning of Baihata Chariyali to Mission Chariyali Highway.”

It is noteworthy that in the recent review meeting held in October, several national highway projects were discussed including the 121-km-long Guwahati Ring Road and the four-lane National Highway 37 from Jorhat to Dibrugarh. The construction of the bridge connecting Majuli and Jorhat was also a major point of discussion. After identifying the slow progress on this project, it was decided that the existing contractor will be replaced. Sarma expressed gratitude to Gadkari for his decisive steps to expedite the Majuli bridge project, saying, “Gratitude to @MORTHIndia for taking cognizance of the matter. We appreciate the efforts being made and hope that the timelines for this important project will be met at the earliest.” In a separate meeting, the Assam CM met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda to discuss Assam’s progress in healthcare. The CM invited Nadda to attend the Advantage Assam Summit 2025, highlighting the state’s significant progress in implementing various central healthcare schemes, including PMJAY and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. On X, Dr Sarma shared, “I had the honour of meeting Adarniya @BJP4India President and Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @JPNadda Ji in New Delhi today. On behalf of the people of Assam, I invited him to attend the #AdvantageAssam Summit 2025. I also used the occasion to brief him on the tremendous progress being made by Assam on the implementation of PMJAY, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and other central schemes to support the healthcare sector.”
