Assam: In a fresh resolve to improve Guwahati’s urban landscape, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced a slew of measures aimed at increasing green and open spaces in the state capital. “Building infrastructure is our priority,” Sarma said on his microblogging page. After the chief minister took over, the Guwahati Urban Development Authority (GMDA) said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble President Dr. Himanta Biswa, GMDA will improve Guwahati’s green spaces and give impetus to our ‘tree economy’. We are committed to doing so.” “We are. And we have always been committed to this. It is about improving the quality of life in our capital.” Additionally, state irrigation minister Ashok Singhal highlighted the pioneering efforts to preserve and protect Guwahati’s fragile ecosystem.
