Assam Born Writer Actors Film Screened At International Festival In Mexico

The film ‘A Teacher’s Gift’, directed by Assamese actor and writer Rajdeep Chowdhury, is being screened at the prestigious 41st Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico and is receiving international acclaim. Rajdeep Chowdhury, who hails from Silchar, Assam, not only acts in the film but also provides the story. The film, which was screened on April 24, has been selected to compete in the prestigious ‘Premio Magi’ category of the festival.

Directed by Portuguese director Artur Ribeiro, the film is produced by British-born Eric Ollerenshaw. The film, which revolves around human relationships and emotions, stars prominent Indian actors like Anjali Patil (My Golden Mother), Dhruv Sehgal and Varun Buddhadev in key roles. Rajdeep, who has previously acted in Hindi films like ‘Jack & Dil’ and ‘Mr. Mummy’, expressed his joy at getting recognition on the international stage with his own story. He said that he is proud that this story, which is based on his personal experiences, is being screened in a country with diverse cultures like Mexico. The film has already been selected for the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA 2026) and is proving the reputation of Indian cinema.
