Arunachal: Indian Army Organizes 2nd Siang Futsal Tournament in Tuting

TUTING: Nyigong Boying Banggo Kebang (NBBK) won the second Siang Futsal Tournament, defeating Gelling Norbulling Youth in the final at the Tuting Sports Complex in Upper Siang district on Wednesday.
The tournament was conducted by the Indian Army’s Spearhead Division under Spear Corps.
The winning and runner-up teams were awarded trophies, medals and prize money during the closing ceremony, according to an Indian Army release.
Twelve men’s teams and three women’s teams from nearby villages and educational institutions participated in the tournament.
“The grand finale witnessed overwhelming participation and support from the local community, transforming the sports complex into a vibrant celebration of youth talent, unity and community spirit,” the release stated.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior military officials, representatives from the civil administration of Tuting, village elders, youth clubs, school children and residents from nearby border villages.
“Their presence reflected the deep-rooted bond of trust, cooperation and mutual respect shared between the Indian Army and the people of the region,” it said.
It stated that throughout the competition, players showcased remarkable talent, discipline, teamwork and determination, highlighting the immense sporting potential of the youth in remote border areas.
“The spirited participation of the women’s teams further underscored the growing inclusivity and empowerment of young women through sports initiatives in the region,” the release said.
Organized with the objective of promoting physical fitness, healthy competition and constructive youth engagement, the Siang Futsal Tournament also served as an important platform to foster social harmony and strengthen community relations in the border region, the release said.
“Through such initiatives, the Indian Army continues to encourage positive youth development and inspire confidence among the younger generation,” it said.
Addressing the gathering, Army officials appreciated the enthusiastic support extended by the local population and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment towards the welfare, empowerment and holistic development of border communities through meaningful outreach programmes.
