Arunachal: ‘Black Sunshine’ theatre spreads message against drugs

PASIGHAT, 23 May: Popular theatre production, ‘Black Sunshine’, was staged at the IGH Higher Secondary School auditorium here in East Siang district on Friday.
The programme was presented by Dr Delong Padung,under the banner of Karpung Karduk Centre for Folk Performing Arts, East Siang.
The event was attended by, among others,
PMC Chief Councillor Tagom Padung, SP Pankaj Lamba, ABK president Tanon Tatak, Assistant Director of Industries Anima Gammeng, and former AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai.
Artists and performers from Karpung Karduk Centre for Folk Performing Arts delivered a powerful performance, highlighting the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of generating social awareness through theatre and performing arts.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with a packed audience appreciating the impactful presentation and message.
The organisers aim to tour various districts across Arunachal Pradesh to create awareness and strengthen the fight against drug abuse through cultural performances and theatre-based outreach programmes. The organisers acknowledged the support of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein towards building a drug-free Arunachal.
The programme is supported by the Directorate of Youth Affairs & Sports.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Councillor Tagom Padung lauded Dr Delong Padung for his dedication towards preserving folk culture and indigenous performing arts while using theatre as a medium to address important social issues for the betterment of the society.
