Along with this, he met Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and also resigned from the post of MLA. After resigning, Arjun Modhwadia lashed out at Congress. Speaking to the media in Gandhinagar, he said, “Today I have resigned from every post of Gujarat Congress, I was associated with Congress from student till today. After starting politics from Block Congress, I have joined the state assembly and the opposition leader. I had also become the President of Congress. I tried to strengthen the party by giving my blood and sweat. But, for some years, the vision with which I had joined the Congress did not materialize.

I had thought that by being in Congress, I would bring economic and social change among the people. We got independence in 1947, but Mahatma Gandhi had said that we have got political independence, economic and social independence is yet to come. I was working in Congress with this imagination. The way the Congress party has gone away from the people. I even tried to draw his attention to it several times. But, I failed in that. Therefore today I resigned from all posts and primary membership of Congress. I express my gratitude to the central and state leadership in my political journey so far.

Arjun Modhwadia, while attacking the Congress by referring to the Ram temple, said that when I had received the invitation for the life consecration ceremony of Ramlala of Ayodhya, I had openly said that rejecting the invitation is a protest stand of the public. We also wanted that Ram temple should be built after the decision of the Supreme Court and after that decision the temple was built. Public sentiments should not have been hurt. But, even at that time this was not accepted. Apart from this there were many other issues also. Every time I tried to express my views. But I could not succeed and today by resigning from Congress I am freeing myself from all the responsibilities of the party. Arjun Modhwadia has written a letter to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, in which he has accused the Congress of hurting people’s sentiments by rejecting the invitation for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla. Not only this, he also targeted former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the letter and said that to divert attention and insult this sacred occasion of life, Rahul Gandhi created a ruckus in Assam, which has harmed the workers of our party and India.
