Another horse was euthanized and buried on the orders of the District Magistrate

Glander disease has been confirmed in a horse during the ongoing sampling operation by the Animal Husbandry Department team in Laldarwaja area of Surat. Therefore, on the orders of the District Collector, the horse was euthanized and buried. It is worth mentioning that earlier six horses had died due to Glander disease.

This disease appeared from the month of February

In the Laldarwaja area of Surat city, the animal husbandry department became alert when six horses of the same owner came positive for glander disease in the investigation of horses. Seeing the seriousness of the disease, the collector of Surat ordered euthanasia of all the six horses at that time and the horses were buried at the dumping site of the municipality.

Samples taken from 148 horses were negative

Doctors and their teams from Animal Husbandry Department of Surat District Panchayat were continuously taking blood samples of horses at Laldarwaja and other areas. In which another horse was killed due to glander disease near Lal Darwaja. The Animal Husbandry Department has heaved a sigh of relief as the samples of other 148 horses came negative. However, the investigation of the horses will still continue.
