Announcement to set up a permanent mediation centre in Manipur HC
Manipur: Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul while addressing the inaugural session of the “40 Hour Mediation Training Programme” at the Manipur High Court Auditorium on Monday announced plans to establish a permanent mediation centre in the Manipur High Court which would create the necessary platform for enhancing mediation related activities in the State. The “40 Hour Mediation Training Programme” was organised by the Manipur High Court in collaboration with the High Court Legal Services Committee and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India.
Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul emphasised the growing need for mediation in the State’s legal landscape. He remarked, “Mediation provides a viable alternative to traditional litigation, fostering a collaborative environment where parties can resolve disputes amicably. As we aim to streamline the justice process in Manipur, trained mediators will play a vital role in ensuring that more and more cases are resolved efficiently and satisfactorily.” The Mediation Training Programme is a landmark initiative aimed at equipping the prospective mediators of the High Court Legal Services Committee with the necessary skills to effectively handle mediation sessions, thereby promoting resolution of cases through alternative dispute mechanisms. This training is expected to play a vital role in reducing pendency of cases in the State, promoting a more amicable and efficient justice delivery system and creating a viable mediation landscape in the State.
