Annamalai defamation case against R.S. Bharathi: Hearing adjourned till April 7

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Saidapet Court has postponed the hearing of the Annamalai defamation case against DMK Organizing Secretary R.S. Bharathi until April 7th.

In a press conference held in 2024, R.S. Bharathi had stated that the Kallakurichi spurious liquor case was a conspiracy by former BJP state president Annamalai. He also stated that he suspected Annamalai had planned this before the Vikravandi Assembly seat elections. He filed a case against R.S. Bharathi in the Saidapet Court, claiming that the speech was damaging to his reputation and seeking damages of ₹1 crore.

The case came up for hearing before Judge Senthilkumar on Tuesday. At that time, Annamalai appeared in person and testified for over an hour. He also submitted documents and evidence in his possession. Following this, the judge hearing the case postponed the hearing until April 7th.

Alliance with Thaveka?: Later, Annamalai, meeting with reporters outside the court, was asked if there would be an alliance with Thaveka. To this, he said, “Tea and coffee don’t mix.” Annamalai added that the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance is strong.
