Andhra Pradesh: YSRC accuses TDP-led attacks
VIJAYAWADA: The YSRC on Thursday complained to the DGP about the alleged intrusion of TDP leaders and cadre into its party offices across the State.
In a letter, YSRC MLC Lella Appi Reddy, former minister Ambati Rambabu, former MLA Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy and Guntur City Mayor K Manohar Naidu stated that attacks on YSRC leaders and activists have increased and their properties are being damaged after the TDP-led NDA came into power in the State.
“Local police are not receiving complaints and registering cases against perpetrators of attacks. Even when YSRC leaders and activists are stating that they are facing a threat to their lives, police are ignoring. These are not isolated incidents, but have been happening across the State for the past two weeks,” the YSRC leaders complained to the DGP.
TDP activists had forced their way into YSRC offices at 14 places in the State and instigated violence. This is a clear-cut case of trespassing and the offenders should be brought to book, they stressed. They also sought action against the police officials who ignored the complaints of the YSRC.
Speaking to mediapersons, Palandu YSRC leaders Ambati, Kasu Mahesh Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy described Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as a ‘destructionist’ and cited the demolition of under construction YSRC party office in Tadepalli as a prime example.
Ambati alleged that Naidu had targeted former MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy much before the elections, and brought Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy, who had been away from politics into the picture. Video footage of Pinnelli damaging an EVM in a polling booth in Macherla was released by TDP general secretary Lokesh and not the Election Commission of India. A case under Section 307 was registered against Pinnelli to deny him bail. “It is all premeditated and vengeful,” the YSRC leaders observed.
Dismissing reports against Pinnelli as fake news, Ambati said though they were limited to 11 seats, the YSRC got a vote share of 40%, compared to the combined 60% vote share of the tripartite alliance.
“The YSRC is a strong political party, and it will emerge stronger in the coming days,” Ambati asserted.
