Andhra Pradesh: Unaccounted cash worth Rs 30.5 lakh seized at Ongole railway station
Ongole: Ongole Railway Police on Monday seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 30,50,000, which was being carried in trains without any valid documents or bills. Under the instructions of Guntakal Railway District Superintendent of Police (SP) K Chowdeshwari, Ongole Railway Circle Inspector (CI) N Srikanth Babu and his team conducted checks in several trains at Ongole Railway Station ahead of the upcoming elections. During the raid, Railway Police found a person carrying unaccounted cash worth Rs 26,50,000 in a bag. On questioning him regarding the amount, he was not able to provide valid documents or bills for the cash. The man was identified as S Sasi Kasi Vishwanath, who worked at a jewelery shop at Narasarao Peta. He is going to Chennai to buy jewelery on the instructions of his boss. On the other hand, the police also identified and seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 4,00,000 from the bag of another person at the railway station. The man was identified as Sheikh Jafar, a cloth merchant from Chirala.
