Andhra Pradesh News: High Court directs Election Commission to decide on Pinelli’s petition

Vijayawada. Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered the Election Commission to decide by Friday on the petition of Macherla MLA Pineli Ramakrishna Reddy. The MLA had requested that Guntur Range IG Sarvshreshtha Tripathi, SP Mallika Garg and Karampudi CI Narayana Swamy be kept away from election duty for the Macherla assembly constituency.

A division bench of Justice Satti Subba Reddy and Justice Venkata Jyotirmai Pratap on Thursday heard the “illegal” act of the Election Commission in not accepting his demand to replace three police officers.

Rajnath Singh Petitioner’s lawyer Niranjan Reddy argued that the three officers were against his client and were trying to mislead the court and not allow him to participate in the counting of votes. On behalf of his client, the lawyer urged the court to keep the three officers away from conducting investigation against his client and also keep them away from counting duty. Election Commission counsel Avinash Desai told the court that he would ask the Election Commission to take an appropriate decision.
