Andhra: Medtech firms take full advantage of state government’s ‘speed up business’ policies
Visakhapatnam: Empowering omen and providing them more than50 per cent of opportunities as its workforce, Healthium Medtech, a global medtech precision company is expanding its footprint in Andhra Pradesh.
With key focus areas in advanced surgery, wound care, arthroscopy and inspection prevention segments, Karnataka-headquarted Healthium Medtech, is setting up its second plant in Sri City with an investment of Rs 300 crore over two phases. “While the first phase will be taken up with an investment of Rs 150 crore, the second phase of the project will be initiated investing an additional Rs 150 crore,” informed Sudeep Dhariwal, whole-time director and group chief financial officer of Healthium, on the sidelines of the recently-concluded Confederation of Indian Industry Partnership Summit 2025 held in Visakhapatnam.
A lot of technology will be infused into the project for the products manufactured by the company. “We are quite happy with the kind of services and infrastructure the Sri City provides. We export to 90 countries and all the products manufactured in Andhra Pradesh will reach out to various countries across the world,” Sudeep Dhariwal shared with The Hans India after signing an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government at the summit.
The project is expected to generate 300 direct and 200 indirect jobs. “Since most of our inflow is on the shop floor, women get more opportunities to work here. Even now, we have more than 50 percent of our workforce as women in Sri City and in other plants spread across India,” informed Mayank Rohatgi, head-government affairs of Healthium. The local community willbe trained to work in the factory and women residing close by are given preference to work at the shop floor.
With immense support forthcoming from the government of Andhra Pradesh, the head of government affairs of the company said, “We had a unit at SEZ which was converted into a DTA in the fastest mode ever. The state government is extremely supportive. We were able to get precisions very fast and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu himself coming to sign the MoU reflects how committed the state government in taking the project forward.”
Following the signing of land transfer agreement in a month, the first unit of the company is slated to start in 12 months from then. Maintaining its key market presence across 90-plus countries across the world, Healthium Medtech is set to make inroads into Andhra Pradesh with its advanced products.
