Andhra: Kesineni Nani defends Andhra Loyola College amid controversy

Former MP Kesineni Nani has responded to a news report alleging irregularities at Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada. The report, published in a newspaper, claimed that certain illegal activities had taken place under the guise of autonomous status. It also mentioned that a three-member committee had investigated the matter and submitted its report to the Higher Education Department.

Kesineni Nani stated that the allegations against Loyola College appeared to be part of a deliberate smear campaign. He asserted that this controversy was not related to the development of educational institutions but was instead a conspiracy driven by personal interests. “This is my personal opinion,” he clarified.

“It is important for everyone to understand that institutions like Loyola College do not belong to any one community. They transcend barriers of caste, religion, and politics, working for the welfare of society, the nation, and humanity as a whole. To safeguard the future of students, Loyola Educational Institutions must be protected from undue pressures,” he stated.

As an alumnus of Loyola College and a former MP of Vijayawada for ten years, Kesineni Nani expressed his firm belief that the institution would continue to serve the youth of the region for centuries. “A prestigious institution like this should not be dragged into unnecessary controversies,” he emphasized.

He also praised the Jesuit Fathers, who manage Loyola College, describing them as a selfless organization that runs over 100 schools, around 25 colleges, and four universities across India without any profit motive. Additionally, he pointed out that the Jesuits operate numerous educational institutions internationally.

Recent reports have suggested that a three-member committee appointed by Krishna University has submitted a report with serious allegations against Andhra Loyola College. However, Kesineni Nani countered this by stating, “The reality is that Andhra Loyola College has successfully maintained its autonomous status for a long time and continues to provide quality education to students. I wholeheartedly believe in this institution’s credibility.”

He further claimed, “In fact, the facilities, infrastructure, and academic standards at Loyola College are far superior to those of Krishna University and even many private universities.”
