An elderly woman died and three others were injured when parts of the balcony collapsed

South Mumbai: An elderly woman was killed and three others injured when portions of a balcony collapsed on her in a four-storey residential building on Saturday. The building, named Rubinissa Manzil, is located on Slater Road near Grant Road train station. The incident occurred around 11 am amid heavy rains lashing the city for the third consecutive day. “Four people were injured when portions of the balcony collapsed. They were rushed to a local hospital where one woman was declared dead while three others are undergoing treatment,” a fire brigade official told the news agency. The official also informed that the building, managed by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), was earlier identified as unsafe by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which had issued a warning about its condition. Seven people were rescued from the building following the incident, the official confirmed.
