AMRITSAR: Smuggler arrested with 400 grams of heroin

CIA staff has arrested a drug smuggler, identified as Hardeep Singh, resident of Paris Avenue, Chheharta, and recovered 400 grams of heroin and a digital scale from his possession. Police have registered a case against him under various sections of the NDPS Act. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kamaljeet Singh said the suspect was arrested from Paris Avenue in Chheharta when he was supplying drugs to an unidentified person. Investigation revealed that the suspect had received the drugs from Sandeep Singh, a resident of Guru Ki Wadali area. He had not been arrested yet. Apart from Hardeep Singh, the police have also named Sandeep Singh in the FIR and efforts are on to nab him, the ACP said. He said the suspect was produced in court and brought on police remand for further investigation. The ACP said more arrests are likely to be made during further investigation. In the second incident, CIA staff arrested Kamal Kumar alias Bablu, resident of Bhalla Colony, Chheharta, on charges of selling illegal liquor. Police recovered 100 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. A case was registered against him under the Excise Act.
