He interacted with the visitors present at Company Bagh and discussed the issues faced by the residents. The MC Commissioner asked the visitors and residents to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness in the garden. He issued instructions to the health wing officials to collect garbage in and around the garden daily and the garbage collection vehicle should also collect the garbage daily.
On this occasion the Commissioner visited the area in Company Bagh where the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is located. The stairs around the statue were found broken. Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla had recently raised the issue of the broken platform around the statue.

MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh said that Rs 30 lakh has been sanctioned for landscaping in Ram Bagh and work on it will be started soon. He said that an estimate of Rs 70 lakh has also been approved for the construction of retaining wall and stairs around the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The work will start after the completion of the tender process for both these development works.
This was the second visit of MC Commissioner to Ram Bagh in the last one month. Showing concern to improve the sanitary conditions and green cover, Harpreet Singh said that they are making continuous efforts, which is being appreciated by the visitors and residents.
“The efforts of the MC Commissioner for the betterment of historical Ram Bagh are commendable. Despite having historical importance, this garden was being ignored by the MC. Pest management has been started with the initiative of the Commissioner. We hope that all encroachments will be removed soon,” said lawyer PC Sharma.
