Amit Shah: Amit Shah directed security forces to crush terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir at all costs

New Delhi (Agency): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday directed security forces to eliminate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir at all costs and ensure the security of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Union Minister Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi on Sunday. It was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, NSA Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Army Chief-designate Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, IB Director Tapan Deka, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh, DGP Jammu and Kashmir RR Swain, ADGP (Law and Order) Jammu and Kashmir Vijay Kumar and senior officers of the Army and Intelligence Department.

Shah directed the security forces to crush the emerging terrorism in the Jammu division of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and prevent its resurgence in the valley. Also asked to ensure security of Amarnath Yatra which will be held from 29th June to 19th August.

Shah also inquired about the current law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the Home Minister also directed strict action against those supporting terrorism. He asked to keep a 24×7 vigil on highways, sensitive installations and sensitive places. He advised to seal all the infiltration routes through which foreign terrorists manage to enter the Union Territory.

He praised the security forces for ensuring a safe environment for the voting process during the Lok Sabha elections. Shah assured to provide all kinds of resources to the administration of the Union Territory to strike hard against terrorism and its supporters.
