All Dimasa Students Union and Dimasa Students Union condemn inappropriate behavior of railway officials

Haflong: Frontal student organizations of All Dimasa Students Union and Dimasa Students Union condemned the inappropriate behavior by the Railway official and said that they condemn with deep regret and grave concern the condemnable actions taken by some officials of the Railway Department, especially the Divisional Railways. On the fateful day of 30th April, members of a reputed local media were subjected to undue hostility and disrespect while performing their duties in Jatinga Lampur. The actions of the Divisional Railway Manager behaving in a rude and unprofessional manner towards the media persons are not only unacceptable but also undermine the basic principles of freedom of press and right to information.

Further, it has come to their notice that Railway officials went to the extent of deleting footage captured by media representatives, thereby hindering dissemination of important information among the public.

“Such behavior not only tarnishes the reputation of the Railway Department but also sets a dangerous precedent for the treatment of media professionals in the society. As advocates of justice and transparency, we cannot remain silent in the face of such blatant disregard for basic democratic values. Therefore, we, on behalf of the Dimasa Students Union (DSU) Central Committee and All Dimasa Students Union (ADSU), Dima Hasao District Committee, strongly condemn the actions of the railway authorities and demand a thorough investigation into the incident. We urge the authorities to take prompt and appropriate action against those responsible for this gross violation of press freedom,” the organizations said.
