AIADMK suffers major setback as three former ministers join Thaveka

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu politics is witnessing a major shift, with several senior leaders leaving the AIADMK and joining the Thaveka party. Former ministers C. Vijayabhaskar and M.R. Vijayabhaskar officially announced their joining the Thaveka party on Thursday. Former minister Valmathi from Trichy has also confirmed her joining the Thaveka. This development is expected to impact the state’s political dynamics.

According to sources, following the defeat in the assembly elections, many AIADMK leaders appear to be shifting their stance and are increasingly pursuing new political options. In this process, several MLAs and former ministers have already left the party and joined the Thaveka, raising questions about the AIADMK’s organizational standing.

In the recent past, AIADMK MLAs who won from four assembly constituencies—Tarapuram, Perundurai, Ambasamudram, and Madhurantakam—have resigned from their posts and joined the Thaveka. Additionally, three former ministers—Udumalai Radhakrishnan, Kadampur Raju, and M.C. Sampath—also left the party and joined the Thaveka (party). These ongoing political changes have sparked renewed debate in state politics.

In the latest development, former minister C. Vijayabhaskar has confirmed that he will join the Thaveka party led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. He stated that he will pursue his political journey with renewed vigor and work closely with the Thaveka (party). This statement has sparked heated discussions among his supporters and political circles.

Similarly, M.R. Vijayabhaskar has also confirmed his departure from the party and stated that he will now pursue his political career through the Thaveka (party). This move by both leaders is being considered a major political loss for the AIADMK, as both leaders have been among the party’s long-time and influential figures.

Furthermore, former minister Valmathi from Trichy has also reportedly joined the Thaveka (party). According to political sources, the party leadership recently took strict action against Valmathi. AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami issued an order on Wednesday removing Valmathi from all responsibilities, including primary membership, further strengthening the possibility of her leaving the party.

Political experts believe that these frequent resignations and defections are weakening the AIADMK’s position, while Thaveka is working to strengthen its political hold. The influx of leaders is expected to benefit the party at both the organizational and electoral levels.

According to sources, the Thaveka leadership is preparing to assign these new leaders important organizational responsibilities to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Meanwhile, these ongoing changes within the AIADMK have also fueled discussions of discontent and a leadership crisis within the party.

Political analysts say this development could have a profound impact on the upcoming assembly and local elections. The departure of experienced leaders is likely to impact both the AIADMK’s strategy and support base, while it could provide political strength to Thaveka.

All political parties are currently monitoring this development, and the possibility of more leaders defecting in the coming days is not being ruled out.
