Ujjain: Today on the Navami of Phalgun Shukla Paksha in the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, during the Bhasma Aarti early on Monday, as soon as the doors of the temple opened at 4 o’clock, Pandey priest worshiped the idols of all the Gods installed in the sanctum sanctorum. Lord Mahakal was worshiped by doing Jalabhishek with Panchamrit made from milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit juice. Hari Om water was offered by ringing the first bell. After Kapoor Aarti, Baba Mahakal was made to wear a silver crown and a garland of Rudraksha and flowers. The special thing about today’s makeup was that in the Bhasma Aarti of Navami, Baba Mahakal was adorned by wearing Tripund and Chandra. Baba Mahakal was decorated with mawa, cardamom, grapes, cherries and was also garlanded with makhana and lotus flowers. Namkeen was offered. After the adornment, the Jyotirlinga of Baba Mahakal was covered with a cloth and burnt to ashes. Devotees who came in large numbers for Bhasma Aarti received the blessings of Baba Mahakal. During this time the entire temple complex resonated with the echo of Jai Shri Mahakal.
