ADB to fund water sports infrastructure in Una

Himachal Pradesh: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed in principle to provide funds of Rs 10 crore for the development of adventure sports and related tourism facilities at Andrauli village located on the banks of Gobind Sagar lake in Bangana subdivision of Una district. Una DC Jatin Lal informed that the proposal along with the detailed project report has been submitted to the ADB for funding. The DC also informed that a bridge is being planned over the Gobind Sagar reservoir connecting the two opposite banks of Lathiani and Mandli villages in Bangana subdivision. Rs 871 crore will be spent on the construction of the bridge, which will reduce the road distance between Una and Hamirpur considerably.
The bridge is expected to give a further boost to tourism, as more people will prefer the new, shorter route for travelling. Jatin Lal said the picturesque Solasingi mountain range in Bangana subdivision of Kutlehar assembly constituency, which rises on one side of Gobind Sagar lake, has been developed as a launch pad for paragliding. The tourism department has finalised the take-off point at Garbhasada village above the Solasingi torrent, while the landing spot will be on a flat ground on the banks of the reservoir. He said paragliding trials have already been successfully conducted by instructors and regular sports activities will begin in the upcoming paragliding season. The DC further informed that various adventure water sports like kayaking, speed boating, wind sailing, jet skiing and others have been tested at the Govind Sagar lake and these sports will soon be made available to visitors.
