Action taken against illegal paddy, more than 264 quintals of paddy seized

Mungeli. The Mungeli District Administration is taking strict action to prevent the illegal purchase, sale, and storage of paddy during the 2025-26 Kharif marketing year. In this regard, a joint team from the Revenue Department, Food Department, and Mandi raided Avida Food Grains Saradha.
Lormi SDM Ajit Pujari stated that the lock of the firm was broken and the illegally stored paddy was seized. A total of over 264 quintals of paddy, including 661 gunny bags loaded in a pickup and a Mazda vehicle, was seized from the premises and handed over to the Agricultural Produce Market, Lormi.
The District Food Officer stated that under the Collector’s direction, 24-hour surveillance is being conducted at the district’s borders and checkpoints to prevent illegal paddy storage and transportation. This includes special attention to suspicious vehicle transport activities. The administration team is maintaining constant vigilance to ensure transparent and fair paddy procurement. Teams have also been deployed at all internal checkpoints. The formed surveillance teams are conducting night patrols, intensive checks on suspicious vehicles, and taking action in accordance with the provisions of the Market Act.
