Abin Dinesh Modak takes charge as Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner

Tamil Nadu: Abin Dinesh Modak assumed charge as Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner on Friday.
Since the announcement of election dates in states like Puducherry, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, the Election Commission of India has been taking several steps to ensure that the elections are conducted in a transparent and free manner. As part of this, the Election Commission is continuously monitoring the election preparations in the Union Territories of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, where elections are scheduled, in coordination with the Chief Electoral Officers of the states through its observers.
In this regard, the Election Commission has already taken action by transferring senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police in West Bengal. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission transferred Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government, Muruganantham, and DGP of the Anti-Corruption Department, Davidson Devasirvadham, on April 8.
The Election Commission has issued an order for the immediate transfer of Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Arun. Following this, Abin Dinesh Modak, who was appointed as the new Police Commissioner, took charge today with immediate effect.
