A woman went into labor, the village lacked a road, and her family carried her on a cot for 10 kilometers.

Sukma. The lack of road access has become a serious crisis for the villagers of Dantespuram village, located in the Bheji area of the Konta block of the district. On Tuesday, a seven-month pregnant woman, Madvi Somdi, suddenly went into labor.
Due to the lack of a road in the village, the villagers carried her on a cot for about 10 kilometers on foot through mountainous roads to Eladamdagu. From there, the woman was brought to the Konta Community Health Center by bike ambulance. BMO Dr. Deepesh Chandrakar stated that the woman is undergoing treatment and her condition is stable.
Villagers reported that a Mitanin worker previously lived in the village, but now the health representative is absent. Neither health department staff arrive on time, nor is any other assistance available. Mandvi Masa, the woman’s husband, said that the administration must now wake up and take immediate action to address the road and health issues. The woman’s brother, Hemant Kumar, also expressed grief, saying that the hardships he endured while transporting his sister through the mountainous roads are indescribable. This incident also highlights the negligence of the health system. The Gachchanpalli sub-health center has only one ANM, while the distance to Danteshpuram is approximately 15-20 kilometers. Despite being the supervisor, RHO Mahendra Kako is unable to do enough work in the area, impacting health services.
