A major makeover for Tripura’s sports infrastructure

Tripura: In a bid to boost sports infrastructure in Agartala, the Agartala Sports Department in collaboration with Gallant Sports is set to inaugurate a Federation of International Hockey (FIH) certified hockey ground in Agartala. This state-of-the-art facility developed under the Khelo India scheme is set to reshape the future of hockey in the region by providing world-class facilities for athletes to hone their skills.

The project, launched in December 2023, faced initial hurdles due to uneven ground level, with some areas being more than a foot higher than others. Despite these challenges, Gallant Sports successfully levelled the playing field to international standards. The result is a standard-sized, FIH-certified hockey ground that promises to uplift the local sports scene.

“We are excited to be a part of the Agartala Hockey Project, which has now led to the creation of a world-class hockey facility certified by the FIH. With top-class infrastructure, we aim to inspire the next generation of athletes and foster a culture of excellence in Indian hockey. We hope that this facility will become a hub where local talent can train and achieve international fame,” said Nasir Ali, CEO of Gallant Sports. The hockey ground is expected to be completed soon and is designed to provide aspiring athletes in Tripura with an environment where they can prepare for national and international competitions.
