A major dispute arose from a customer’s behavior over a sandwich, leading to a violent fight in the street.

Bilaspur. On Tuesday night, a dispute over non-payment for sandwiches consumed at a stall in front of Med Bakers in Nehru Nagar escalated into a public brawl, involving verbal abuse, physical assault, and vandalism. Several people from both sides sustained injuries in the incident. The police have registered a case based on complaints from both parties and have initiated an investigation. Local residents claim that knives were also used, although the police have not yet confirmed this.
The complainant, Shivshankar Kurre, a resident of Karmatara village, Bemetara district, told the police that he currently lives in Nehru Nagar on rent and runs a sandwich and burger stall on the roadside there. On the night of December 16, at around 9 PM, Uday Kshatri and Hemant Kshatri, residents of Model Town, Udiya Basti, arrived at his stall. Uday asked for the price of a sandwich, to which Shivshankar replied 40 rupees per plate. After eating the sandwiches, when asked for payment, Uday said he would pay the next day.

According to Shivshankar, when he refused to give credit, the two young men, who were intoxicated, started verbally abusing him. When he protested, both of them attacked him with their hands, fists, and stones, causing injuries to his head. His brother, Brijmohan Kurre, who came to intervene, was also attacked. It is alleged that Uday then called his associate Kashi Tandi and others to the scene. They all joined together, verbally abused him, threatened to kill him, and assaulted him with sticks and fists. Brijmohan sustained serious injuries to his head, left arm, and near his genitals in the attack. The stall was also vandalized, resulting in a loss of approximately 25,000 rupees.
