Ayodhya: Met the family members of the rape victim, had a ‘detailed discussion’

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): A three-member BJP delegation on Sunday met the family of a 12-year-old rape victim here and held “detailed discussions”. After the meeting, Rajya Sabha MP Baburam Nishad said the team gathered information about the incident from the rape victim’s family and will submit a report on the matter to BJP’s OBC Morcha national president K Laxman. BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have alleged that the prime accused in the girl’s gangrape case, Moeed Khan, is a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and is part of Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad’s team. According to Baburam Nishad, the delegation that met the girl’s family on Sunday also included Rajya Sabha MP Sangeeta Balwant Bind and Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare Narendra Kashyap. He said, “We had a detailed discussion with the rape victim’s mother and others and gathered detailed information.” “Whatever action is to be taken by the government is being taken. We have also gathered other information about him (accused Moid Khan). We will get to the bottom of it and investigate,” the MP said. He said the rape victim’s family is “satisfied” with the action taken by the government against the accused. Police had arrested Khan, who runs a bakery in Bhadarsa Nagar of Ayodhya district, and his employee Raju Khan in the rape case of the minor on July 30. According to police, Khan and Raju Khan raped the girl two months ago and also recorded the act. The incident came to light after the girl was found pregnant in a medical examination. “This is an Ayodhya case. Moid Khan is from the SP and is a member of the Ayodhya MP’s team. He has been found involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl. The Samajwadi Party has not taken any action against him,” Adityanath said in the UP Assembly on Thursday. Adityanath had met the girl’s family last week. The Ayodhya district administration demolished Khan’s bakery on Saturday. Ayodhya District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh had earlier told PTI that the bakery was built “illegally” on a pond.
