Five policemen suspended in the murder of Atiq and Ashraf

Prayag (IANS) | Five policemen, including station in-charge Shahganj Ashwini Kumar Singh, have been suspended in connection with the murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. Prima facie a case of negligence has been found in the investigation. A police officer has informed about this.

Shahganj police station SHO Ashwani Kumar Singh, a sub-inspector and three constables were suspended on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Atiq and Ashraf, a police official said.

He told that this step has been taken after the investigation of SIT found negligence in discharging the duties.

It may be noted that Mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in police custody. He was being brought by the police to the Calvin Hospital premises for medical examination.
