Chhattisgarh: Constable’s plea to avoid arrest rejected in High Court
Bilaspur. The High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of constable accused of rape on the pretext of marriage. Accused Saurabh Choubey had filed this plea to avoid possible arrest.
The case is such that Constable Saurabh Choubey, resident of Mata Chaura, Purana Sarkanda, met a girl in the police ground of Bilaspur. After this, the two started talking through mobile and social media. It is alleged that Saurabh Choubey took the girl to his house and raped her on the pretext of marriage. When the girl asked for marriage, he made the excuse that his sister has to get married first. Meanwhile, he got engaged to another girl.
The girl lodged a complaint in Sarkanda police station, after which the police registered a case against Saurabh Choubey under section 376 (2) (N) of the Indian Penal Code. To avoid possible arrest, Saurabh Choubey had filed an anticipatory bail application in the High Court, which has been rejected by the court.
