Jalandhar: Jyoti Nooran staff caught the snatcher and handed him over to the police
Jalandhar: The Division Number 4 police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly trying to snatch the mobile phone of a delivery boy after midnight near a petrol pump at BMC Chowk here. Pritam Kumar, who works with Zomato, had gone to the petrol pump when three bike-borne youths stopped him and tried to snatch his mobile. Around the same time, Sufi singer Jyoti Nooran was also in the same area as she had gone with her staff to get some snacks from the adjacent ’24 Seven’ grocery store.
When they realised that the victim needed help, Jyoti’s staff tried to stop the bike riders by hitting them with their vehicle. Upon this, the snatchers fell off the bike, but two of them fled from the spot. The singer’s staff called the police and handed over the youth, who is said to be a minor, to them. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Jalandhar, Nirmal Singh said that police teams came to know about the incident in the wee hours of today. He said that an FIR has been registered under Section 307/3(5) of the BNS. Also, the accused has been identified. The bike has also been recovered.
