Former Kabaddi player dies of drug overdose, family demands compensation

Nabha: Another family was ruined due to drug abuse in Punjab. 37-year-old Satwinder Singh, a former Kabaddi player from Bhadason, Nabha, died of drug overdose. In this case, the family says that Satwinder used to consume alcohol only, he did not inject drugs. The family has alleged that Satwinder was injected with drugs by his partner at home. The deceased person had quit Kabaddi after an accident in the year 2020. He was doing a private job and has two children. The family raised questions on the Punjab government and said that if the Punjab government cannot stop drug abuse, then the government should definitely give some compensation to the families of those who are dying due to drug abuse. The family said that drugs are being sold openly in Bhadason, there is no fear of anyone. Our demand is that first of all those people should be arrested who are selling drugs, so that the future of the youth does not go into the darkness of drugs. According to the information, the police have arrested drug sellers and others in this case. A case has been registered against the drug seller. Let us tell you, on July 15, Punjab’s Bathinda Counter Intelligence got a big success against drugs. The police recovered 41 quintals of poppy husk being brought in a container from Madhya Pradesh. It was being taken to Moga, which was caught by the police on the way.

According to the information received, on the basis of secret information, the counter intelligence has recovered poppy from the container on the ring road of Bathinda. The counter intelligence has arrested the container driver. The DGP of Punjab had posted on the social media platform X, “Big victory in the war against drugs! Counter Intelligence, Bathinda has arrested a drug smuggler and seized a huge quantity of 4100 kg (210 bags) of poppy smuggled from Madhya Pradesh. We are committed to make Punjab a drug-free state.” Earlier on July 11, 28-year-old Harjinder Singh died due to drug overdose in Kotda village of Mansa district of Punjab. The family of the deceased says that their son was stuck in the quagmire of various drug addictions for a long time.
