Surat: Civil Hospital organizes a seminar on self defense and health care during heat stroke

The temperature is continuously increasing in the entire state including Surat city. With the maximum temperature recorded around 40 degrees and wind speed of 20 to 25 kmph, the seminar was organized by the New Civil Hospital to avoid the scorching heat and create health awareness. In which measures to avoid heatstroke, self-defense and health care, nursing staff and 108 ambulance staff were given information for taking care of hospitalized patients.

On this occasion, Dr. Vikasben Desai, former Additional Health Director of PSM Department of Government Medical College, Surat and Honorary Technical Director of Urban Health and Climate Resilience Center of Excellence, said that it is prudent to be cautious in the scorching heat. It is very important to take care of your own safety and health during summer. At the same time, nursing care remains important, along with the care and treatment of hospitalized patients. Patients need more care during summer than normal days. The nursing staff should understand their moral responsibility and give adequate amount of water to the patients throughout the day along with the medicine.

Vikasben Desai further said that patients as well as the general public should avoid staying in Air Condition (AC) in hot conditions. Cold drinks should not be consumed to get relief from heat. If you do not like to drink water frequently, then you can take coconut water, lemon syrup, salted buttermilk, orange juice, glucose water etc. to keep sufficient amount of liquid in the body. Wear light cotton clothes and possibly light white clothes. Linen clothes and soft muslin clothes are very comfortable in hot weather. While going out in summer, wearing a cap, women should cover their face with a veil, cover, head cover or umbrella.

On this occasion, Medical Superintendent Dr. Ganesh Govekar said that this seminar has become important for creating awareness to avoid heat stroke by adopting safety measures to avoid unbearable heat. The seminar was organized by Iqbal Kadiwala of Gujarat Nursing Council on precautions and safety measures against heatwave.

On this occasion, R.M.O. Dr. Ketan Nayak, Iqbal Kadiwala Roshanbhai of 108 Ambulance, Kiranbhai Domdia, Secretary of Nursing Council, Nursing staff including local president Ashwinbhai Pandya, Jagdish Buha, 108 ambulance staff were present.
