The accused, identified as a Cameroonian national, was detained on Friday, June 28, after customs officials became suspicious of his activities upon his arrival at the airport. Upon arrival, officials immediately conducted a thorough security check on him. During the inspection, officials ordered the passenger to put his hands up and then conducted a detailed search of him and his luggage. Their suspicions were confirmed when they found 70 capsules that contained a white powder-like substance. A closer examination revealed that the capsules contained about 1,472.5 grams of cocaine. Officials acted quickly, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect. However, officials did not reveal the exact method of concealing these capsules. The seized drugs were confirmed to be cocaine, with an estimated value of Rs 22.09 million. The incident highlights the continued efforts of customs officials at the Delhi airport to curb smuggling activities, especially narcotics. The arrest comes in the wake of another recent smuggling case at the same airport where officials caught a Nigerian national trying to smuggle 2 kg of amphetamine. The arrested person is now in police custody and investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
