Odisha News: Demand to open UAE consulate in Odisha
Odisha News: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday asked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to open the Consulate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the state. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), CM Majhi requested External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to open the consulate during a meeting at his residence.
Odisha Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo and P Parida were also present at the meeting. CM Majhi said that since many people from Odisha are working in Dubai, the UAE Consulate would be of great help to them.
Demand for repatriation of eight people stranded in Dubai
He also sought the External Affairs Minister’s help to bring back eight people from Odisha stranded in Dubai safely to India. The statement said that S Jaishankar has promised the Prime Minister to take immediate action in this regard.
Discussion on attracting foreign tourists
CM Majhi also discussed measures to attract foreign tourists to the country, including setting up an international tourism centre. Later, the Odisha CM met Union Health Minister JP Nadda and asked him to open medical colleges in those districts of the state where there are no medical colleges.
