Fazilka: A cunning couple who cheated people by implicating them in false cases were arrested

Fazilka: District Fazilka police has arrested a woman and her husband. Both husband and wife had cheated people by implicating them in a false rape case and have been arrested with a sum of Rs. 90,000. On June 26, Dhingra Colony resident Reshma Rani had recorded a statement that Fazilka resident Rekha Rani had lodged a case of rape of her minor daughter by her minor son on May 13 this year.

Her son is lodged in Faridkot’s reformatory in this case. Rekha Rani and her husband Mahendra Pal used to work as labourers with Reshma Rani’s nephew Chhinder Pal. They used to pressurize Chhinder Pal to give Rs. 2 lakh to compromise in Reshma Rani’s case and acquit the boy. Later the case settled for Rs. 90,000.

Reshma Rani said that when she went to the typist’s shop in DC Fazilka office with Rs. 90,000 to get her resignation written, the police arrested Rekha Rani and her husband there. In this case, the police have registered a case against the husband and wife under various sections in the City Police Station Fazilka. The police have taken both of them on one-day remand and further interrogation is being done.
