Elderly woman held hostage in her home and robbed in broad daylight

Meerut. A daring incident has come to light in the Railway Road police station area, which openly challenges the police. Where this morning three armed masked miscreants raided the house of an elderly woman and held her hostage and fled with cash and jewellery worth lakhs kept in the house.

After which, when the woman shouted, the people nearby reached and informed the police about the incident. On which all the police officers reached the spot with the force. Also, the police is searching the CCTV cameras installed nearby to identify the miscreants. While on the basis of suspicion, some people have been detained and are being questioned.

According to the information, elderly woman Pratima Mandal, living in New Prempuri of Railway Road police station area, was alone at home. On Saturday morning, somehow three masked miscreants entered the house and held the woman hostage at gunpoint. After which the miscreants stayed for half an hour and ran away after searching every inch of the house and looting cash, jewellery and the woman’s mobile. While leaving, the miscreants locked the woman in a room. During this, on hearing the noise, the neighbours reached there and took the woman out of the room. They also informed the police about the incident.
The daylight robbery created a stir in the police department. After which the police station police as well as all the police officers reached the spot and inquired about the incident. According to the victim woman, the miscreants have looted about one and a half lakh rupees. At present, the police is trying to identify the miscreants by examining the footage of nearby CCTV cameras. Also, some people have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
