One accused arrested after 17 years in case of burning beggar alive in car

Agra. Police have arrested the father of the main accused in the 17-year-old case of burning a beggar in a car in Rakabganj, Agra. Police gave this information. He told that the accused had burnt a beggar alive in a car by wearing their clothes to get the insurance money.

He told that the crime branch of Ahmedabad had disclosed the case by arresting the main accused in November 2023 and now Rakabganj police has arrested the father of the main accused in the same case. According to the police, on July 30, 2006, a car collided with a pillar on Takkar Road in front of Agra Fort and there was a fierce fire in it. In this incident, the youth sitting on the driver’s seat was burnt alive.

Police said that on the basis of the car number, the police contacted Vijay Singh, a resident of Bhatta Parsaul, after which he came to Agra and identified the body as his son Anil. Police said that Anil had a travel agency and he had an insurance of about Rs 60 lakh. After the death certificate was made, the insurance amount was taken. He told that Anil had not actually died in the car accident, he was alive and had started living in Ahmedabad hiding his identity. Police arrested Anil after a confidential complaint.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Suraj Kumar Rai told that the case was sent from Ahmedabad to Agra after which a case was registered in Rakabganj police station. Police has arrested the father of the main accused Vijay. Regarding the incident, the police told that Anil and his family hatched a conspiracy to get the insurance money and under the same conspiracy, Anil called a beggar for dinner, fed him and also gave him his clothes to wear. He told that there was an anesthetic in the food due to which the beggar became unconscious. After this, the accused made him sit on the driving seat of the car and burnt the car. The beggar has not been identified yet.
