Thief absconded after killing an elderly man

Janjgir-Champa: The body of an elderly man was found on the bed in a room of a house in the district under suspicious circumstances. The cupboards kept in the room were also found open. There is a possibility of murder along with theft. There are injury marks on the neck. The incident is of Shankar Nagar of Champa police station area.

According to the information received, Champa Police received information at around 9 pm on Wednesday night that the body of an elderly man Chhote Lal Pandey (65) was lying on the bed in a room of the house. There was a red colored wire near his head and water was kept in a pot near his feet. This incident happened between 8.00 and 8.30 pm.

According to the family members, Chhote Lal Pandey lived with his family. The son and daughter-in-law had gone to visit Khatu Shyam temple with their children. The deceased’s wife was sitting at the dairy shop. Like every day, Chhote Lal used to go to the shop at 7.45 pm to bring his wife home from the shop. Meanwhile, due to heavy rain on Wednesday evening, he did not reach the shop to pick up his wife. His son called the neighbor and said that father is not picking up the phone. Please go and make him talk to him. When the neighbor reached there, he saw that he was lying on the bed. He was not responding to calls. When they went closer, he was already dead.
