Chamba: 22-year-old youth dies in road rage incident
Chamba: A youth was stabbed to death in a road rage incident in Chamba district. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Nikhil, a resident of Mehla in Nurpur in Kangra district. The Chamba police have registered a case of murder and detained four youths – Anku, Atul and Vinay and a minor – in connection with the incident. One of the suspects, Vishal, is absconding.
According to local police, Nikhil had gone to Chowari to attend the Chhinj fair along with his four friends from Noorpur. While returning on Sunday evening, he got into an argument with another group of youths over overtaking near the petrol pump in Chowari. The altercation turned into a scuffle, after which people present there intervened. They then dispersed. However, a scuffle broke out between the two sides again at Jatrun. During this, a youth stabbed Nikhil in the chest. Nikhil’s friends rushed him to Noorpur hospital, from where he was taken to Amritsar. He died during treatment at a hospital in Amritsar. Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said the investigation into the case was underway and a search operation had been launched to nab the fifth accused.
