‘AIADMK not finished, because I’m coming back’; VK Sasikala announces re-entry to active politics

CHENNAI: Anna DMK former general secretary VK Sasikala has announced her return to active politics in Tamil Nadu. Sasikala vowed to revive AIADMK from death bed after the party’s repeated defeats in elections across the state. Sasikala, a former close confidante of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa also expressed hope of the party coming back to power in the 2026 elections; to reinstate the vision of Amma Jayalalithaa.

Sasikala said she would assume the role of the opposition party to take the government to task, unlike the current opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, who she alleged was not doing his work properly.Sasikala has been for a long employing several tactics to wield back power in AIADMK but to no avail. Her latest decision was made after holding talks with supporters at her residence in Poes Garden.“The time is here. There is no need for any worry. I am so strong and the people of the state are aligned with us in this fight. AIADMK is not finished because I’m coming back.” Sasikala also stated that she will win the assembly elections in 2026 with the support of the people and bring the rule of ‘Amma’.Sasikala said that she would soon go on a state-wide tour and raise questions against DMK. In a veiled attack against the current leaders within the AIADMK, Sasikala blamed the caste politics that had seeped into the party which she alleged contributed to the downfall.“A party formed by MGR and Jayalalithaa will never accept such decadent caste politics. It was only because of this abysmal caste politics that Edappadi K Palaniswami became the chief minister in 2017. “said Sasikala.
