Dance teacher suicide case: Maniac who was harassing her for marriage arrested

Raigarh news. On 5 May 2024, a young woman named Anima Sahu, a native of village Sursi, police station Sariya district Sarangarh Bilaigarh, living in a rented house in Banglapara under police station Chakradharnagar area, committed suicide by hanging herself. Regarding the incident, the father of the deceased lodged a death intimation in police station Chakradharnagar that his daughter was working as a Kathak dance teacher in Dance Academy Banglapara Raigarh for a year. On the night of 04 May, Anima had a normal conversation with the family members, the next day they got the information that Anima had committed suicide by hanging herself in her house.

Regarding the incident, a death number 43/2024 under section 174 CrPC was registered in police station Chakradharnagar and the family members and friends of the deceased were questioned and investigation was done, in which it was found that Shesh Kumar Pradhan (age 24 years) of village Sursigarh police station Sariya district Sarangarh Bilaigarh liked Anima Sahu (deceased) and wanted to marry her but Anima did not like him. Shesh Kumar used to harass Anima for marriage. Many times Anima had told this to her parents and sisters. On May 4 also, there was a lot of conversation between Shesh Kumar and Anima, due to which Anima committed suicide. On May 13, Chakradharnagar police registered a case against accused Shesh Pradhan under crime number 228/2024 section 306 IPC after inquest and the accused was traced. Accused Shesh Kumar absconded from his residence Surajgarh and was constantly changing his place of residence by switching off his mobile to avoid arrest.

The police was constantly taking information from his relatives and informers and raiding for his arrest. Yesterday, TI Prashant Rao got information about the accused living in village Jamgaon Puitala Balangir (Orissa), after informing the Superintendent of Police, and under his guidance, the Chakradharnagar police team immediately raided Balangir, Orissa. The accused was taken into custody while cooking food in a house and his family was informed. After interrogating the accused and completing the arrest proceedings, the accused has been sent on judicial remand today. Under the direction of SP Divyang Kumar Patel, Superintendent of Police, Divyang Kumar Patel and guidance of City Superintendent of Police, Akash Shukla, Police Station In-charge Chakradharnagar Inspector Prashant Rao Aher, Head Constable Shyam Dev Sahu, Constable Niketan Patel and Constable Pratap Behera of Cyber ​​Cell played a special role in the investigation/arrest of the accused.
