Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro refunds overstay charges after delay due to technical glitch
Hyderabad: Passengers faced extensive delays on Wednesday evening due to a technical glitch in the Hyderabad Metro, which led to overstay charges in the system due to unexpected disruptions. Three trains were stranded on the LB Nagar and Miyapur metro lines, causing congestion and inconvenience to passengers. L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited said that services were affected for some time due to tripping of the Transco feeder coming into MGBS. Passengers who were charged for overstay charges due to the delay took to social media to highlight the unfair surcharge and questioned the policies of the metro.
Usually, passengers were charged Rs 10 for stopping for more than 20 minutes at a single station, with the amount increasing by Rs 10 for every additional hour. In response to this feedback, Hyderabad Metro officials have confirmed that the charges charged for overstay charges due to the delay have been refunded. “We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers and have initiated the refund process for all affected passengers,” a Metro spokesperson said. Passengers who have faced similar issues are advised to check the refunded amount in their accounts and contact Metro customer care for any unresolved issues.
